On Sunday 9 June all three congregations will be joining as one to celebrate Pentecost together. The service will start at 4pm at the Ethiopian Church on Pentonville Road.
This is a key day in the church calendar where we remember those first followers of Jesus, who faithfully gathered together praying and seeking God in an upper room in the heart of Jerusalem. As these followers continued to seek God, the presence of God fell. With that first outpouring of the Spirit, 3000 people came to faith that day and the church was born.
Each year, in the run up to Pentecost, we set aside time to pray for God’s Spirit to move in our city, praying that God’s kingdom would break out on earth as it is in heaven. However, this year we think that our contending looks a bit different. In a city where the undercurrent is so often anxiety and fear, where worry robs deep rest, and apathy stifles hope, we want to be a people of joy and sense our contending looks like celebration.
We’ll be hosting 100 Meals across the KXC community and taking part in a week of 24-7 prayer in the build up to Pentecost Sunday, before we all gather to worship God together on the 9th June.
