KING’S HOUSE

King’s House is our new centre of community, worship, justice, entrepreneurship and mission in the heart of King’s Cross. The building provides a home for KXC’s activities, local mission projects and partners, and is open for external hire. The heartbeat of King’s House is hope. Its name reflects that it is a home built on a foundation of mercy, to act as a beacon of God’s light and life to the people of King’s Cross. We opened the doors for Launch Week on 20th February 2022 and now host three services in the building every Sunday, at 10am, 12pm and at 3pm, as well as a full timetable of community and charity programmes throughout the week. TIMELINE OF THE KING’S HOUSE STORY

1923 THE LUCIANA TEMPERANCE BILLIARD HALL OPENS AT 242 PENTONVILLE ROAD - Since then, the building has been occupied by various organisations including Bike UK, The Poor School and Pauline Quirke Academy.

OCT 2020 242 PENTONVILLE ROAD BECOMES VACANT AND KXC APPOINT HAWORTH TOMPKINS ARCHITECTS TO COMPLETE INITIAL FEASIBILITY WORK

FEB 2021 KXC SIGNS 10 YEAR LEASE WITH PREVIOUS FREEHOLDER AND BEGIN REBUILDERS FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

JUN 2021 DIOCESE OF LONDON PURCHASE THE FREEHOLD WHICH SECURES KXC’S USE OF THE BUILDING FOR THE NEXT 90 YEARS!

AUG 2021 BASED ON SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING TOTALLING £668,000 (FROM KXC CONGREGATION, GRANT FUNDERS + LDF LOAN), KXC APPOINT CLEMENTS CONSTRUCTION FOR REFURBISHMENT WORKS COSTING £597,000 + VAT

SEP 2021 KXC CONTINUE FUNDRAISING FOR REMAINING AMOUNT (£48,000) NEEDED FOR REFURBISHMENT

EARLY 2022 COMPLETION OF BUILDING WORKS - KING’S HOUSE OPENS!
